ROARING AHEAD: Yuga Labs Acquired Roar Studios To Help Them Achieve Their Otherside Goals!

Yuga Labs had the Bored Ape Yacht Club turnt up on Monday as the company announced that it had acquired Roar Studios, as they roar towards the initial release of Otherside later this year!

On Monday, Yuga Labs announced that Roar Studios, an immersive media experience where artists and fans connect, collaborate, and compete in real-time from anywhere, was now a part of the Yuga Labs family. They will be helping the company achieve its ambitious Otherside goals.

"Roar Studios has redefined what it means to experience media content in the metaverse," Yuga Labs CEO Daniel Alegre said in a press release. "Yuga's North Star is creating new ways for communities to connect and express themselves, and I am excited to welcome Roar's talented team to our Yuga family. Roar's dedication to creative content creation and social connections will accelerate our execution of our bold vision for Otherside and Yuga's ecosystem more broadly."

As part of the acquisition, Roar Studios’ Founder and CEO, Eric Reid, who has had a long and prolific career in entertainment industry, will be joining the Yuga Labs team as its Otherside General Manager.

“Our team's mission is to empower players to create and be social in a community-driven, open media experience, so our work fundamentally aligns with Yuga's larger web3 metaverse strategy,” Reid said in a press released. “When Daniel and Mike Seavers opened the door for us to contribute to Yuga's paradigm-shifting approach to content and immersive experiences, we jumped at the opportunity."

The idea of immersive experiences and large-scale virtual events through collaboration has been a part of Yuga Labs’ Otherside goals since the beginning as they’ve worked with the Metaverse technology company, Improbable, to make Otherside a reality!

“Otherside is not a game it’s a platform,” Improbable CEO Herman Narula tweeted in September 2022. “It is powered by M squared which is a network of platforms that all work together. If you own an otherdeed then as we add more worlds to M2 you get more potential people to come visit your content. It’s all stronger together.”

At this time, we do not know exactly when the Otherside will open, but we do know that the "persistent world" is coming this year.

“The persistent world will be coming in 2023,” Garga said in an interview with Punk6529 in October 2022. “There will be multiple experiences, many multiple experiences along the way, but the initial persistent world, where people will have full access to the initial customer experience will be in 2023.”
