Yuga Labs’ Chief Executive Officer’s Bored Ape’s name is Pancho after the Web3 community voted for the name in a recent Twitter poll.
One month after, Yuga Labs CEO Daniel Alegre aped into the Bored Ape Yacht Club and purchased Bored Ape #3575, the company’s chief executive asked the web3 for some help naming his primate.
“I need to name my BAYC #3575 but can use your help,” Alegre tweeted on June 8th. “I’ve narrowed it down to my four favorite options and will leave it up to the community to vote for what the name will be: Walt, Grumby, Pancho, Aguy.”
Bored Ape #3575 is a six-trait dark brown fur primate with a black tee, scumbag glasses, and a Sea Captain’s Hat. Based on these traits, Bored Ape #3575 is the 7987th most rare ape, according to Rarity Tools.
After two days and 1,463 votes, the community narrowly voted the name the primate Pancho with 39.5% of the vote.
"Thank you to all who have helped me find an identity," Alegre tweeted after the poll closed. "It was a tight race until the end and Pancho won out! Expect to see Capt. Pancho in the Yacht Club near you soon."
During the voting period yesterday, Alegre confirmed that the name Pancho was based on famed Mexican revolutionary and guerilla leader, Pancho Villa.
