The Bored Ape Gazette interviewed Spottie WIFI after Ape Fest and found out more about his big night! See the Gazette’s full interview with Spottie below:
1: How’d the opportunity to perform at ape fest come about?
“I reached out to BAYC back in April to express interest in performing at ApeFest, and thankfully the team was receptive and connected me with the right team members to make it happen. It was their idea to invite Bun to join me, which was a great idea. Then I mentioned I also have an unreleased song with Jim, who is from NYC, and we were able to get both of them on stage during my set, which was incredible.”
2: What did it feel like to perform side by side with some legendary artist?
“I’ve developed a great relationship with Bun, and we’ve performed together several times now, but this was the biggest show we’ve done together. It felt like a full circle moment, especially because he has gone on to do so many dope things in web3 since we first partnered together last year. And as far as bringing out Jim Jones during my set, that was incredible. I’m a huge Dipset fan and Jim is a legend - he is having an incredible year and I’m super grateful that he made time for ApeFest. It felt very special to bring him out in NYC.”
3: Did you talk to snoop, Eminem, or any of the other rappers about your performance? Did anyone say anything to you about it?
“After my performance I ran into Talib Kweli at ApeFest and he told me he enjoyed my performance and what I’m doing generally, which was super validating because he’s a hip-hop legend and an incredible emcee. Hearing something like that from someone like him is pure motivation to keep going.”
4: What’s next for Spottie WIFI?
“For the rest of the year I’m focused on finishing my new album and also my comic book. Also the “Full Set” NFT collection will be dropping in July as a free claim for anyone that has an “I’m Spottie” or “All Time High” NFT.”
5: Do you have anything else you’d like to add?
“Only thing I would add is huge thanks to the founders at BAYC and Guy Oseary for giving me the opportunity to perform, and to my partner Stefan Clark and my wife Spottie Wifey for always supporting me and doing the hard work behind the scenes.”
