Past the Bored Ape Yacht Club and beyond the swamp, a new story is about to begin. And while details remain scarce, it’s clear something big is coming!

Tall tales are being spun around the swamp as Yuga Labs continues working with writers on its highly anticipated BAYC anime series. On Friday, Garga stopped by Other Games’ weekly space to chat about what’s happening across the ecosystem and gave the community its first update on the anime in a while.

“Its early days right now,” Garga siad. “We are just working with writers. We want to include people in on the process for sure, but right now we are just in the development process. With stuff like this, you really want to make sure you got the story down packed before you get going.”

Garga went on to explain that his focus these days is on taking bigger swings for BAYC, with projects like the anime, reiterating that while major ideas take time, they’re ultimately worth the wait.

“It’s a bit different these days with BAYC then that first summer with a lot of quick hit things that we were hustling and putting together as a small team. But at this point and with the maturity of the club and as a brand its really more for me about the really big hit things that we can do… we are ambitious.”

As the Gazette previously reported, Garga first announced that Yuga Labs was working on an anime series in collaboration with MachiBigBrother’s Six Studios during ApeFest in October 2025.

“We’re thrilled to share our first collaboration with Yuga Labs, the team behind Bored Ape Yacht Club,” Six Studios’ THE LINE wrote on YouTube. “The BAYC team came to us to produce a teaser for a secret project they’ve been cooking up. We love early-stage development and were stoked to be part of it. Huge thanks to the amazing crew we worked with on this project. We’re so proud of how the final film turned out. Check out the credits below and show the team some love!”

As we wait for more details on the BAYC anime,  everyone can watch the ApeFest teaser trailer below.

The Gazette will continue to follow the BAYC anime and will let you know when the club or Six Studios release new looks or additional details about the series. Stay tuned for updates.
