The BAYC And BMW Are Bringing An Ape Themed Mixed Reality Racing Experience To ApeFest! Here's How You Can Participate:

SKIRT SKIRT! Bored Ape Yacht Club members will be hitting the BMW mixed reality racing track at ApeFest next week, and community members are invited to reserve one of 100 time slots for $320 USD this Friday, starting at 2 P.M. EST!

On Thursday, the BAYC and BMW announced that they will be bringing an Ape-themed mixed reality racing experience to ApeFest 2024, that will be anything but boring!

“We are transforming the virtual world into reality—right in the car,” the club wrote. “The BMW M Driving Experience with its Mixed Reality offering is venturing abroad for the first time and has created exclusively for the ApeFest 2024 a completely new Mixed Reality Experience. By turning your vehicle into a controller and donning the mixed reality headset, you'll be transported into an exhilarating new driving adventure. Keep your hands on the wheel while the world beyond the windshield transforms.”

 

 

“The BMW M Driving Experience at ApeFest 2024 is an extraordinary, one-of-a-kind Mixed Reality event, built entirely from the ground up,” the club wrote.  “Featuring a brand new race track where you won't just race against the clock - you'll face off against a virtual opponent for an entirely new level of competition.”

 

After the announcement, Yuga Labs VP of Brand Production Chad Calcagno tweeted that this experience isn’t just a VR headset in a car.

 

At first glance, you might think, "Isn't this just a 'VR' headset in a car?" I thought the same thing, but when you hop in a car for the first time and put on an MR headset that allows you to drive a real car on a real track while also experiencing a virtual world, it's truly a glimpse into the future…. With the success of BMW x Apefest HK, we really wanted to do something special, and even something that had never been done before. We wanted to merge the worlds of The Bored Ape Yacht Club x Otherside x MMR all into one. BMW has developed a totally new race track for their MMR experience that's custom for Apes. Debuting for the first time at Apefest Lisbon.”

 

 

 

To participate in this experience, Apes must reserve their spot beginning at 2 P.M. EST this Friday, October 11th, and pay $320 USD. Note: Only 100 Apes will be able to participate in this experience. Everyone must arrive on time for their reservation, have a valid driver’s license, be fluent in English, be over the age of 18, and NOT be under the influence, according to the club.

 

 

This experience is the third activation that BAYC has announced BMW will be doing at ApeFest this year. As The Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, the luxury automaker is also debuting its Bored Ape Bimmer Club jackets and unveiling its Bored Ape Car, made in collaboration with BAYC member Rida.
