On this day four years ago, the blockchain practically stopped as Bored Ape Yacht Club members and non-members alike rushed to mint 55,000 Otherdeeds for 305 $Ape, or about $7,320 USD, in what became one of the biggest gas wars in crypto history. At the time, people paid upwards of 2.5 ETH, roughly $7,000 USD, just to get their transactions through.
If you were there, you remember it. If you weren’t, you missed something truly insane.
“A lot has changed since then. A lot is still changing,” Yuga Labs tweeted yesterday along with a photo of the world’s Mascot Blue. “The best days are ahead.”
Oh boy, they weren’t kidding.
Four years after the biggest mint in NFT history, the Otherside is officially live and always open. Hundreds of NFT collections now have playable avatars in the metaverse, and events and get togethers are happening there nearly every day.
On top of that, the world has partnered with Amazon for an in game asset drop and is currently hosting a first of its kind in world Voyager minting experience with artist Daniel Arsham, a moment that feels straight out of the wildest dreams of bull runs past.
With more Voyager drops planned, a resource game on the horizon, and a growing list of community and third party projects making their way into the metaverse, it really does feel like the Otherside’s best days are ahead.
