VOXEL VISUALS: Yuga Labs CEO Garga Gave The Community A Look At Some Meetroplis Concept Art Before Project Dragon's Launch Next Month

After Garga 'got lost' in the popular design tool Figma this morning, he shared some old concept art of Meetropolis, giving Apes, Meebs, and Voyagers a glimpse of the Otherside and a new view of the voxel town!

As Yuga Labs gets ready to unleash ‘guns and mayhem’ on the streets of Meetropolis this July with the start of its ‘Project Dragon’ multiplayer game and storyline, Garga took to Twitter on Friday and shared some early Meetroplis concept art with the community.

“Got lost in figma and found myself staring at a bunch of old concept art for Meetropolis, home of the Meebs on Otherside,” Garga tweeted. “This city has been in the hopper for a long time. Really excited for everyone to get to explore it (and kill each other) next month in Project Dragon. (shout out to the wizards over at Possible who were our partners in designing and building the city)”

In the four images, Apes, Meebs and Voyagers got a look at the vastness of the Meetropolis skyline, a 'fren' zone complete with a Fren bar and what looks like a nightclub, a voxel neighboorhood, and a 'Meeseum' mueseum!

As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, Garga first announced ‘Project Dragon’ last month during his Otherside Town Hall event.

“Project Dragon launches in July, and it will be a massively multiplayer event with thousands of players competing across Meetropolis” Garga said. “There will be weapons. There will be mayhem. Frankly there will be a lot of jank because nobody has done action gameplay with three thousand plus people like this. It just doesn’t happen.”

At the time of this article’s publication, there is still a lot we do not know about Project Dragon, such as its storyline and game mechanics. However, we do know that Apes and Meebits will be able to play as their PFPs at launch, and that Koda holders and others will be able to join the battle as their avatars once Yuga Labs makes their 3D files available.

 

“There will be a project Dragon event every month starting in July and we are going to be developing and iterating on the formats with holders through the end of the year,” Garga said. “The events start in Meetropolis and to start you’ll be able to play as your Bored Ape, Meebits, or Voyager. Kodas and others will enter the fight when their respective islands open up.”
