"WE'RE JUST GETTING STARTED": ApeCoin Chief Commercial Officer Won Kim Says New York City’s Inaugural Crypto Summit Was Bullish

As the great Frank Sinatra once sang, “If you can make it here, you can make it anywhere,” and ApeChain and crypto are making it in old New York!

Things were anything but boring in the Big Apple earlier this week as the Ape Foundation’s Chief Commercial Officer, Won Kim, attended New York City’s inaugural Crypto Summit, hosted by Mayor Eric Adams, and things are looking up for $Ape!

“TL;DR –  @apecoin continues to connect, show up & we’re just getting started,” Kim tweeted. “Earlier this week,  @apecoin was invited to Gracie Mansion where  @NYCMayor Adams proclaimed, 'From skyscrapers to subways to our wildest dreams … we’ll embrace tech today for the future of our tomorrows. The age of tokenization is here.'"

During his speech at the summit, Mayor Adams made it clear that NYC is ready to welcome more crypto, blockchain, and Web3 builders and even compared this moment to Star Trek.

“We're saying if you're in the crypto, blockchain, Web3, or the fintech space, New York is open for business,” Adams said at the event. “The future of tech is happening right here in the city and we hope you can join us in this process. We want to build out our educational institutions. Every young person in the DOE should know about blockchain and crypto. They should know about this new form of paying for goods and services.

This is an exciting opportunity and an exciting time. I can't help but to feel that in some way, in some place, I'm living out my dream. I've become the Captain Kirk of New York. We're going into boundaries that have never been before. So I'm looking for my Spock. I'm looking for all the other people that want to be on the USS Enterprise New York. Let's make this happen. Let's make sure we move forward in the right direction.”

Along with hearing a bullish speech from the mayor, Kim said he was able to meet many industry leaders during the event, as well as connect with the $Ape community at ApeChain’s reception co-hosted by former NBA player and longtime crypto enthusiast, Baron Davis.

“Co-hosting with Baron was great, and we got to chat with so many different people. Ballers, investors,  @BoredApeYC holders, creators & ApeChain enthusiasts,” he said. Conversations centered on why blockchain is redefining the future, and it was great to see  @apecoin being at that center.”
