WELCOME TO GOBLIN TOWN: James Hall’s Gobs on Ape Take Over the Timeline After Last Night’s Free Mint—And Another 234 Goblins Up for Grabs Tonight!

Last night, a horde of 2,222 sneaky, on-chain pixelated goblins from Gobs on Ape stealthily made their way onto ApeChain, quickly climbing to a floor of over 100 $Ape after opening its free mint to ApeChain gremlins scavenging for on-chain treasure. But the chaos isn’t over yet—round two of this free mint is happening tonight around 9 P.M. EST!

$Ape holders are starting the new year in Goblin Town after Yuga Labs' Head of Engineering, James Hall, launched the Gobs on Ape project. The mint left many happily squabbling on the timeline as they marveled at the project's unique style and groundbreaking on-chain tech, which literally put the J-Pegs on ApeChain for the first time ever!

A little after midnight this morning, over 1,955 Gobs on Ape had been minted, quickly becoming an ApeChain favorite around the swamp. Many longtime BAYC members and $Apes switched their PFPs and filled the timeline with these mystical creatures.

Following the success of last night’s mint and the community’s interest in Gobs on Ape, James Hall, who started the project back in November 2024 and did not initially announce that this was his project, tweeted to remind everyone that the Gobs on Ape were always intended to be an art project with a simple thesis: “Make a fun PFP to vibe with and let the rest run on its own.”

 

“To be crystal clear, these are collector's items,” he tweeted this afternoon. “There is no planned roadmap / utility further from me. I put a lot of my learnings that I got from @mathcastles, @ArtOnBlockchain, @chonksxyz and more into this. If any devs can learn from this, i consider it a great reward.”

Round two of the Gobs on Ape mint is happening tonight around 9 P.M. EST. Eighteen collections will be allocated 13 Gobs each. The mint will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
