Yuga Labs' CEO Said That Their Mission Is To Bring The Community Together& Otherisde Is A Big Part

Yuga Labs’ Chief Executive Officer, Daniel Alegre, reiterated that Yuga Labs ‘mission is to bringing the community together' and explained that Otherside is the platform to make that possible!

On Wednesday, Alegre made his Web3 media debut on Rug Radio with Farokh and told the popular spaces host that Yuga Labs is not a gaming company.

“I don’t want Yuga to be a gaming company,” Alegre said. “At the core we are building culture on the blockchain and that’s our mission. And that means bringing communities together. And we bring communities together through our great story telling and our evolution of Bored Apes Mutant Apes Kennel Club and now also CryptoPunk and Meebits. And In order to bring communities together were bringing unique experiences. And those experiences can be interpretive digital art and games. So we are going to be bringing in new experience that actually bring the community together and expand the community but it’s not necessarily that we are now a gaming company at our core”

Alegre continued and said that Otherside is Yuga Labs’ big bet on community.

“If you look at what we are doing with Otherside we are investing heavily in building tech platforms,” Alegre said. “Otherside is really a way for the community to engage with new and innovative experiences but more than anything to engage with the community.”

As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, the idea of Otherside being a platform has been said many times over the past year and a half.

On September 3, 2022, Improbable CEO, Herman Narula, who’s company is building the interoperable metaverse that includes Otherside, said that Yuga Labs’ metaverse was not a game and emphasized the importance of community building.

“Otherside is not a game it’s a platform,” Narula tweeted y night. “It is powered by M squared which is a network of platforms that all work together. If you own an Otherdeed then as we add more worlds to M2 you get more potential people to come visit your content. It’s all stronger together.”

During today's space, Alegre would not comment on when the next Otherside trip would be, but we do know that the persistent metaverse is coming in 2023, according to a previous interview with Garga.

“The persistent world will be coming in 2023,” Garga said in an interview wit Punk6529 in October 2022. “There will be multiple experiences, many multiple experiences along the way, but the initial persistent world, where people will have full access to the initial customer experience will be in 2023.”
