AN INSANE FOUR YEARS: Four Years Ago Today, Mutant Apes Arrived At The Bored Ape Yacht Club! Take A Look Back At The Airdrop And Mint:

On this day four years ago, the Bored Ape Yacht Club’s Mutant Ape Arcade machine got fixed, expanding the community from 10,000 Bored Apes to 30,000 primates with the launch of the most insane collection the blockchain has ever seen, the Mutant Ape Yacht Club!

On August 28, 2021, following the iconic “Fuck It Mutants Saturday” tweet just days before, every BAYC member was glued to their screens, waiting to find out more about Mutants.

Throughout the day, community members received either an M1, M2, or M3 Bored Ape Chemistry Club Mutant Serum for each Ape they held.

 No one knew what was coming next, until the BAYC sent out a tweet introducing the Mutant Ape Yacht Club.

“Strange noises can be heard from the basement of the club,” The BAYC tweeted. “The clinking of glass and the turning of gears . . . The Mutant Ape Yacht Club is now live.”

“The MAYC is a way to reward our ape holders with an entirely new NFT—a “mutant” version of their ape—while also allowing newcomers into the BAYC ecosystem at a lower tier of membership,” the BAYC explained at the time. “Mutants represent the final tier of membership; everything going forward occurs with the intention of accruing utility and member’s-only benefits to Bored Apes foremost, but also Mutants, and to a lesser extent, Bored Apes with BAKC companions.”

After that, Bored Apes began chugging their serums, spawning thousands of mutant versions of their primates, and whole new group of community members joined the swamp via a Dutch auction that sold out fast!

Since then, Mutants have been cooking, creating, and bringing the vibes day in and day out. It’s impossible to imagine the club without them.

 

To celebrate the MAYC’s fourth anniversary, Yuga Labs sent another “Fuck It”-esque tweet today, inviting Mutants to break on through to the Otherside and explore the metaverse as their insane primates for the first time ever!

 

As Mutants aped into Otherside, Yuga Labs CEO Garga reminisced about that day and said he’s pumped to get them into the metaverse on their birthday.

“Some of the best times I've ever had in this space was the lead up to Mutants,” Garga tweeted said. “Deranged, creative fun spawned from an arcade machine at the back of the bar. long overdue to get these insane fuckers into Otherside.”
