BAYC Co-Founder Gordon Goner "Shitpost" About Kodas Today. Here's What We Know The Full Story Here:

As Apes prepare for tomorrow’s Otherdeed mint, Bored Ape Yacht Club Co-Founder Gordon Goner cracked a Koda joke!

“I asked Sass if he got a Koda and I got a Koda, if his Koda would be my Koda’s gf and he said no,” Goner tweeted Friday afternoon.

This post got apes thinking and theorizing about what role Kodas will play in tomorrow’s mint and whether all BAYC and MAYC members will get one of the creatures.

“BREAKING NEWS”, BAYC member AirKong tweeted. “ More mind fuckery with Kodas. I can’t take it no more.”

Shortly after the tweet, Goner took to Twitter again to calm the apes down. “Was just trying to shitpost but now everyone theorizing way too much. garga shouldn't have let me post that.”

While we do not know much, many BAYC members believe that Kodas will be randomly distributed during this weekend’s Otherdeed mint. Goner’s tweet alluded to this theory.

As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, many apes and non-apes believe that Kodas were shown in the club’s Otherside Metaverse teaser trailer on March 18th.

In the trailer, Curtis ingests a potent concoction that causes the primate to trip out. Curtis begins to see volcanos, icebergs, and an interesting floating world. All of this as the song Break On Through (to the Other Side) by The Doors plays in the background.

Curtis is then taken away by the same creature that is on the bottle of the potent concoction that he consumed.

Many BAYC members believe that the creature is a “Koda.” The idea of koda’s in the BAYC universe were first referenced earlier this year in a leaked Venture Capital Pitch Deck. At the time of the leak, club founders Garga said that the pitch deck was outdated.

"“That’s an old, outdated pitch deck and hilariously a version that neither Gordon nor I ever saw. There are a lot of things in there that have already changed, and plenty more things that will change because fuck doing expected things.”

At the time of this article’s publication, we do not know anything about Kodas, what role they play in the Otherside or how someone can get one.

But we do know that the BAYC has been teasing the community about Kodas since this weekend’s mint was announced on April 23rd.

“OK but what the fuck is a Koda,” the club tweeted on April 23rd along with a retweet about this weekend’s mint.

We will likely learn a lot more about Kodas and their role in the Otherside this weekend either before or after the OtherDeed mint.

As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, the BAYC will be selling 55,000 Otherdeeds this Saturday at 9:00 p.m. EST. The Otherdeeds will cost 305 $Ape and only kyc’d accounts will be allowed to participate in the mint.

“In order to ensure as broad a distribution as possible and dramatically soften the potential for a massive gas war, there will be an enforced limit of 2 NFTs per wallet at the start of the sale,” the club wrote on its Mirror webpage. “Again, this is per wallet, not per transaction.”

Here’s an example of how the mint process will go:

Prior to Saturday’s mint, the BAYC will allow users to set their pre-approvals for $Ape coin.

“Also, we’ve heard from the community that we should allot more time for users to set pre-approval for ApeCoin. So starting at 9am ET on 4/30, users will be able to do this. The actual sale will not begin until 9pm ET, a full 12 hours later.”

Along with this weekend’s mint, Apes and Mutants will also be able to claim “an NFT,” according to the club.

“BAYC and MAYC holders, you’ll be able to claim an NFT for 21 days after the auction,” the club tweeted on April 25th. “You don’t need to be KYC-approved to claim, but you DO need to be KYC-approved to mint in the auction.”

In total, this mint will take 16,775,000 $Ape out of circulation (55,000 * 305). This $Ape will be locked for one year," according to the club. “And before anyone asks: Whatever ApeCoin is earned from this auction will be locked up for one year. That means no voting with it in the ApeCoin DAO either.”

The Bored Ape Gazette will continue to report on the Otherside and this weekend's mint. Stay tuned for updates!
