BEEP. BOOP. BOUGHT!: BAYC Member Adam Weitsman And Gabe8bit Purchase The HV-MTL Collection From Faraway And They Have Big Plans For These Bots!

HV-MTLs have a new home this evening after Bored Ape Yacht Club member and entrepreneur Adam Weitsman, along with HV-MTL holder and Web3 builder Gabe8bit, acquired the robotic IP from Faraway Gaming Studios. The duo promised top tier devs, great art, and HV-MTLs’ inclusion on Otherside, while also giving the community a look at some long awaited EVO2 designs, and even teasing the machines’ third form!

 

On Thursday, the clanking rumors that had been circulating around the Web3 world were confirmed. Adam Weitsman, alongside Gabe8bit, acquired the HV-MTL project from Faraway Studios.

After Weitsman’s tweet, Faraway Gaming Studios’ CBass took to the community Discord to break the news to HV holders and say that Faraway will support Weitsman and Gabe however they can.

“This is a natural handoff that sets HV-MTL up for its next chapter, and we’ll remain available to support a seamless transition,” he said.  “As part of this transition:  Over time, this server will focus fully on Rift as we approach the app’s release. Faraway will no longer be providing updates for HV-MTL. Gabe is more than welcome to use the HV-MTL channels in the server to provide updates during this transition period. Because ownership of HV-MTL is being transferred, the previously planned second Rift airdrop to HV-MTL holders will no longer proceed under the new structure. Today’s announcement comes 17 months after Faraway Gaming Studios purchased the HV-MTL IP from Yuga Labs in April 2024.

 

In that time, HV-MTLs were included in some games and received an allocation of Faraway’s AI token $J3FF. But as the company shifted its focus toward artificial intelligence, many wished to see the story of HV-MTLs continue, including Weitsman and Gabriel. With this move, it will on Otherside!

After the news broke, Yuga Labs CEO Garga shared a teaser video of a HV-MTL making its way through the metaverse.

As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, while HV-MTLs were still owned by Yuga Labs, there were plans to continue upgrading the robots following The Forge and the subsequent Rift game. However, those plans never materialized.

 

But now, with the acquisition by Weitsman and Gabe, community members finally got a look at EVO2 versions of the HV-MTLs :

 

And Gabe even hinted that EVO3 is in the works.

 

 

Today’s HV-MTL project acquisition is the latest move Weitsman has made to be a “Beacon of Hope” in the Web3 world. Just last month, he acquired 5% of all Otherside Otherdeeds from Yuga Labs in an over the counter deal, and he plans to use his land to inspire youth and make the real world a better place.

 

“I’ve got some ideas about kids playing this all over the world,” he said. “This is a tough world. A place that kids can dream in. They can dream that this is their house and this is their land… “I’d love to be able to have an advisor for every 30 Otherdeeds” who would teach them how to build. Teach them how to trade. Teach them how to barter…“This space needs a beacon of hope…I don’t have a financial interest in Yuga, so I can be very objective, I’m not biased toward the thing. I just want what’s best for the space.”

 

With today’s project purchase, Weitsman now owns HV-MTLs along with 525 of the colleciton’s NFTs, five of the 13 Mega Mutant Apes, four Bored Apes, one additional Mutant Ape, a Meebit, four Mega Kodas, 6,474 Otherdeeds, three Bored Ape Kennel Club pups, the Golden Key from Dookey Dash, a CryptoPunk, and a Moonbird!
