BIRD IS THE WORD: Yuga Labs Acquired The PROOF Collective And Its MoonBirds Collection

The Bird is the word around the Bored Ape Yacht Club today after Yuga Labs announced that it had acquired Moonbirds, the PROOF Collective, Oddities, Mythics, and Grails exhibition series.

Things were anything but boring around the Yugaverse on Friday after Yuga Labs announced that it acquired the PROOF Collective and its signature Moonbirds project in all-stock deal on Yuga Labs’ part in exchange for PROOF’s team and resources, according to Yuga Labs Co-Founder, Garga.

“As a company committed to championing art, culture, and community on the blockchain, we’re excited to have PROOF join the Yuga ecosystem,” Yuga Labs CEO, Daniel Alegre said in a press release. “Moonbirds is a collection with great potential and many unifying brand elements with Otherside. We look forward to PROOF Collective becoming an important part of our ongoing art and community engagement efforts.”

Following the deal, Proof Founder Kevin Rose will become an advisor to Yuga Labs and the Proof Team will join the Yuga team and finish what they started, according to Yuga Labs' press release. 

“I have a lot of admiration for folks on the PROOF team,” Garga explained in a four-point tweet on the acquisition. “Getting to know Justin, Felix, and others on the team a bit has been awesome and I'm excited what this team can cook at Yuga. The PROOF Collective team is coming over pretty much intact to finish up what they have been cooking but Wylie and I have had a lot of ideas for what a team like this could do in the art space in the future, and they have some sick ideas of their own too. tldr: more talent + resources to enable faster and better execution across Yuga.”
