The art auction house Christie’s is set to kick off its “No Time Like The Present” auction later today and Bored Apes are dressing up for the occasion.
Bored Ape Yacht Club members, Stew_Eth started the suit up movement yesterday to make sure apes looked their best at Christie’s.
“Suits on for Christie’s, Stew tweeted. “If you want a suit for your ape, reply with your ape number.”
Stew’s tweet quickly exploded receiving over 1,000 likes and hundreds of comments from apes looking for a tailor. As the day went on, the movement quickly took off. Hundreds of apes were suited up for the occasion.
“The community response has been absolutely incredible, Stew said. “I’m constantly amazed by the BAYC community. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever been a part of.”
Stew told the Bored Ape Gazette that he has personally suited over 200 apes for the event and that hundreds of other apes were suited up with the help of BAYC community members.
“Another example of what makes Apes community special, BAYC member Boredape1000 tweeted. “Watching all Apes getting dressed up in suits for Christie's auction is something special! There are other NFTs in Christie's as well, but this level of enthusiasm and creativity comes only from 1 community.”
As the Bored Apes suited up, Mutant Apes also dressed for the BAYC’s first appearance at Christie’s. “So mutants also suit up in style today,” MAYC member TH3_NOTH1NG tweeted.
Apes and mutants weren’t the only ones dusting themselves off for the auction, several other NFT communities followed suit and suited up! “Alright, I'll put some damn clothes on, Wicked Cranium Member Lawoftheaw tweeted. “Gotta show love to this monumental moment in NFT history. congrats @BoredApeYC team.”
Since the movement began, more and more apes have wanted to suit up. In order to make that happen, BAYC member Ape Collector created suitape.com to accommodate apes and mutants tailor needs. Apes and mutants that are interested in suiting up, just need to click the link and type in their ID number. They will then be taken to a page with their ape in a suit!
“We clean up nice,” The BAYC tweeted in response to all the suited up apes.
