Next week will be a vibe around the swamp as Yuga Labs prepares to launch a Vibecode update that could open the Otherside to player creation!

Things were anything but boring on Friday when Yuga Labs’ Michael Figge announced that Otherside’s “Vibecode World” is set to release on Tuesday, March 3rd.

While we don’t yet know exactly what to expect when the “Vibecode World” rolls out next week, we do know it will allow more users to begin placing vibecoded objects inside the world, according to Figge’s past post.

With this update, Otherside moves closer than ever to becoming a player built metaverse that's a Roblox Killer, which is a major goal for Figge and the team.

“You should be able to publish and you should be able to create,” Figge said during the BAYC’s Meet At The Clubhouse Space on January 8th. “Success looks like you don’t need to notify any of us to publish, you should be able to do that on your own. Kind of like how anyone can mint an NFT and it shows up on OpenSea. But to do that, you need a lot of work to make sure its automatic. And I think we are about to see the first signs of that this year. Everybody is building and they don’t need us to do it.”

As the Gazette previously reported, the idea of user generated items in the metaverse has been in the works for some time.

Back in the summer of 2023, Improbable developers first showcased its Metaverse Markup Language (MML), a system designed to allow objects to appear inside virtual worlds using text rather than traditional code. At the time it was mostly a demonstration, but now Otherside appears to be moving closer to opening creation tools to players.

Next week’s vibecoding update comes just two and a half months after Yuga Labs acquired the Unreal Engine based creator platform powering Otherside from Improbable, along with many of the engineers behind it, signaling a push to speed up the development of the metaverse.

The Gazette will continue to follow this week’s vibecode world roll out and will let you know how and when you can get involved. Stay tuned for updates!
