FINAL RESULTS: The ApeCoin Community Elected BoredApeG Veratheape& Gerry To The Special Council

The ApeCoin DAO’s first election season was anything but boring as a major shakeup happened in the final minutes.

After an eight-week election process, the ApeCoin community elected BoredApeG, Veratheape, and Gerry to be on the Special Council with Yat Siu and Alexis Ohanian in January 2023.

The ApeCoin DAO’s election came down to the wire as new $Ape holders showed up to vote and others changed their votes in the final minutes. These changes drastically impacted the outcome of the election.

As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, Horzien Labs’ Metaverse Strategist and Bored Ape Yacht Club member Degentraland was leading the five candidate Special Council pack as of 8:45 P.M. EST with 5.7 Million $Ape votes.

Dengentraland has been leading in all of the Gazette’s various updates and live looks at the Special Council election over the last week.

But, as many in the crypto space know, things can change on a dime.

By 8:49 P.M. EST, Degentraland went from being comfortably in first place with 5.7 Million $Ape votes to fourth place with 4.4 Million $Ape votes.

Following the election’s conclusion and his stunning loss, Degentraland took to Twitter and commented on the major shakeup at the end of the election.

“Never a dull moment in crypto,” he wrote. “Huge congrats to the @apecoin council winners. You’re all going to be amazing. Always here if you need my support.”

Many in the $Ape community attribute the sudden election changes to DaoKwonDo AKA Books’ Web3 Exposed Twitter Space with Degentraland and the other candidates earlier today.

"Nobody’s against you,” Books said to Degentralnd during the Space at the one hour 48-minute mark. “But where were you? A person is number one in votes, and we don’t even know who voted for him, which is fine. I understand this is crypto. But we all think its Horizen. There’s Horizen fingerprints all over this. Dude this is for the community. You haven’t been someone for the community. Again, ive heard you speak. It could have been on an ApeCoin Space or a Bored Ape space and besides that Alex’s spaces. I know you spoke on Farokh’s space because someone told me, and you confirmed. Other than that, I’ve been around for quite some time, and I don’t know you. And a lot of people on this stage don’t know you either.”

During the Space, many BAYC members took to Twitter and commented on Degentraland’s performance.

“Man, listening to Degentraland trying to justify why we should vote for him. Can’t even formulate a single coherent reason,” notable BAYC member Kobrakao tweeted. “A lot of fluff, a lot of nothing. Do we really want this guy helping to run our community? Admits he’s too busy. HARD PASS. ANYONE else except him.”
