HATS OFF!: BAYC Member Gene Helps His Fren Phil Get The Club’s Nautical Hat After He Missed The Drop!

Talk about a hats off moment!

Last month, the Bored Ape Yacht Club released a limited edition hat that leaned heavily into the club’s newfound nautical aesthetic.

 

 

The limited edition drop sold out quickly, leaving many BAYC members, like Phil, hatless and feeling bummed that they missed out.

“I HATE how much having an IRL job outside of Web3 disconnects you from things in the space,” he tweeted at the time.

 

 

But while Phil may have missed the drop, his friend and fellow BAYC member Gene didn’t.

“Phil knew he wouldn’t be able to get one so I DMd him and said if I can get my hands on an extra it’s yours,” Gene told the. paper. “So as luck would have it, we were able to buy 2 hats per order.”

 

Gene secured the hat and sent it to Phil in a move that reminded everyone around the swamp that the best part of the Best Club on the Internet isn’t the merch or the JPEGs,  it’s the members, the connections, and the frens made along the way.

“This may just look like the newest  @BoredApeYC hat to you. To me, it means so much more,” Phil said. “Connection to something bigger than myself. Friends across the globe that will grab a drink when in town, send you a happy birthday message, and yes, grab a hat for you when you are unable. When you step away you can miss so many of these simple connections. The club is powerful because of all of these connections.
