MEET THE CANDIDATE: JBond Is Running For BAYC Community Council Made By Apes Liaison

JBond is an IP maxi and has been working to secure licensing deals for his Bored Ape, Jay Baby, with everyone from Bugatti Bags to Bicycle Cards. Now, he’s running to be the BAYC Community Council’s first Made By Apes Liaison, aiming to build an MBA ecosystem where customers, builders, and the Bored Ape Yacht Club thrive!

This year’s BAYC Community Council elections are underway, and Apes are taking to the polls to elect a Council Co-Lead, who will act as the committee's co-leader, a Made By Apes Liaison, who will be responsible for finding ways to support and connect Made By Apes businesses, and a Clubhouse and Events Liaison, who will be responsible for setting up events between local BAYC communities and Yuga Labs!

One of the five Apes running for the Made By Apes Liaison role is JBond, who wants to help mold a Made by Apes program that works hand in hand with Yuga Labs’ new BAYC LLC.

To find out more about Jbond’s candidacy, his BAYC story, and why he’s the right Ape for this job, the Bored Ape Gazette reached out to him for an interview. Check it out below:

1. What's your Bored Ape story? What should the community know about you?

“I’ve been a member of Bored Ape Yacht Club since May 25, 2021. I’m not a Bored Ape minter. I stumbled upon apes through NBA Top Shot. I was wondering why anyone in their right mind would buy these monkey jpegs. Then Roham bought one. That’s when I decided to ape in with my first ape. And that first ape is not Jay Baby. I got a toga ape with crazy eyes. I got into the community & thought I can’t see myself leaving the club. It would be hard for me to go on with just 1 ape so I bought another ape 2 days later. And that ape is this pink ape and he’s been my PFP ever since. I’ve been an IP maxi ever since. What attracted me to BAYC the most is community and IP. Us owning the IP of our NFTs is a game changer for me after working with big brands like NBA and Disney. It made me see a paradigm shift through decentralization of IP. This ape, Jay Baby, has made it to multiple licensing deals including Bugatti Bags, Bicycle Cards, and local Philippine merchandise brand, Anotoys Collectiverse. And now I have the privilege of being part of the first NFT IRL restaurant in the world, Bored & Hungry.”

2. What’s been your favorite moment of being a BAYC member?

“There’s too many to great memories to look back to as a member of BAYC. My favorite would probably be meeting and having photos with NBA All Stars, Tyrese Haliburton and Rudy Gobert during ApeFest 2022. As someone who started web3 journey through NBA Top Shot, and being led to BAYC, and attending my first ApeFest in 2022, and meeting these basketball superstars in person - that was surreal.”

3. What would you like to accomplish as the BAYC Council Co-Lead?

“My vision is to have a global MBA ecosystem that thrives through mutually beneficial relationships, partnerships, & collaboration between BAYC LLC, MBA builders, & their ape customers. This can only happen if I can help foster an environment for BAYC LLC and MBA builders to support one another, learn from one another, and build with one another. This is something I want to build and prioritize as your MBA Liaison”

4. What makes you the right Ape for this role?

“I think I’m the right ape for this role because of my unique combination of IP building experience across the “bored”.

I’ve successfully licensed my ape to multiple brands I’ve thrived on having a career as an IP builder with Bored & Hungry and Storyverse.

I’ve invested in MBA startups like Ape Beverages I’ve also tried and started building an own MBA brand, Cooking with BondCake.

And I’ve founded an regional ape community, Baykada, in the Philippines I don’t only talk about IP. I walk the talk. I got my hands dirty. And I’ve been building ever since.

And to top it all up, I’m probably one of the most passionate people on BAYC IP you’ll see.”

5. Do you have anything else you’d like to add or say?

“I am honored and grateful to run along some of the best IP maxis in the club: Gene, Meirav, Cap, and Johnny Apes, please make sure you take this opportunity to get to know your candidates and exercise your right to vote. And please know that should I not win, I won’t be going anywhere. Building BAYC IP for me is still nowhere close to being done.”

The window to vote in the BAYC Council election is currently open and Apes can cast their votes without a wallet connection via Tokenproof between now and March 15th at 11:59 P.M. PT here: https://bayccouncil.tokenproof.xyz
