MEET THE CANDIDATE: GratefulApe Is Running For BAYC Community Council Co-Lead!

GratefulApe has been feeling grateful ever since he minted his Bored Ape way back on May 1st, 2021. Since then, Grateful has worked every day to support Apes and grow his popular Twitter Space, the Grateful Show, which highlights the amazing builders in Web3. Now, Grateful is hoping to bring his positive attitude and his love of community to the BAYC Council as the group’s next Co-Lead, where he will focus on bringing people together and championing Web3 culture!

This year’s BAYC Community Council elections are underway, and Apes are taking to the polls to elect a Council Co-Lead, who will act as the committee's co-leader, a Made By Apes Liaison, who will be responsible for finding ways to support and connect Made By Apes businesses, and a Clubhouse and Events Liaison, who will be responsible for setting up events between local BAYC communities and Yuga Labs.

One of the five Apes running for the Co-Lead position is GratefulApe who wants to see Yuga Labs get back to its Web3 roots and help the company empower community members around the world!

To find out more about Grateful Ape’s candidacy, his BAYC story, and why he’s the right Ape for this job, the Bored Ape Gazette reached out to him for an interview. Check it out below:

1. What's your Bored Ape story? What should the community know about you?

“I minted my ape on May 1st, 2021, and fell in love with the community. It was something that I hadn’t experienced before. The vibes were incredible. It was a special moment for sure. I started an Instagram account called Bored Ape Gang, and it exploded. At one point, I was getting about 3000 followers a day, and I helped many people understand crypto and how to stay safe. I also started a podcast called The Bored Ape Gang Show and interviewed incredible people like Cryptopainter, Richard Zheng, Boomer, and others. I had a great time and learned a lot, and this show evolved into the Grateful Show. We just hit episode 250 and celebrated 2 years. We focus a lot on IP, empowering artists and communities, Made By Apes, etc. It all goes to 1 important thing -->People are the alpha of this space, and I love connecting with others, whether online or IRL.”

2. What’s been your favorite moment of being a BAYC member?

“My favorite moments are always about connecting with other people in the community. We have members from all over the world and from many different backgrounds. I have a blast talking to Apes in spaces and during IRL events. ApeFest was incredible and was one of the highlights of 2023. Spending time with Apes is the best!”

3. What would you like to accomplish as the BAYC Council Co-Lead?

“My main goal is to bring people together and focus on Web3 culture. The club should be for all members, no matter where they are from, no matter their background or following on Twitter. Members should feel valued and welcomed. BAYC was born from Web3, and we shouldn’t forget its roots. We don’t want Web2 corporate stuff. I want people vibing together and having a great time. We have a fantastic network of Apes with different backgrounds, which has huge potential. Supporting members is essential. We have many local clubs, IRL events, content creators, collectors, builders, etc. We need to empower them and help them. I 100% believe in: Apes Together Strong.”

4. What makes you the right Ape for this role?

“I have a proven track record in the space. I never quit, and I am consistent. I understand Web3 culture and have been part of the BAYC community since day 1. I am in touch with space daily and have been through all the ups and downs. I have always supported others, and I love you, apes.”

5. Do you have anything else you’d like to add or say?

“We must stick together and support each other because there are still many challenges in Crypto and Web3. It is not easy, and support can make a massive difference for our members. I am grateful to be part of this journey and excited for 2024. LFG.”

The window to vote in the BAYC Council election is currently open and Apes can cast their votes without a wallet connection via Tokenproof between now and March 15th at 11:59 P.M. PT here:
