METAMASK IN THE METAVERSE: MetaMask Distributes 27,000 Otherside Avatars Through Its Rewards Program

Metamask on, the masses are now invited to ape into the Otherside.

On Thursday, Ethereum’s most popular crypto wallet, MetaMask, debuted two new Otherside ready avatars Axel and Vox and made them available to participants in its rewards program, potentially onboarding thousands of new users into Yuga Labs’ metaverse.

“Have you claimed your new  @OthersideMeta avatars yet,” the Web3 wallet posted. “MetaMask Rewards participants who reached at least lvl 2 can claim Axel, an exclusive playable avatar in Otherside. Those who reached lvl 4+ unlocked Vox, a second, even more limited avatar!”

 

The avatars were created by Geez at Ape Founder Rida’s Inceptive Studios and distributed as Season 1 rewards alongside a Linea airdrop and a Nansen Pro discount. The program rewards users who trade perpetuals or swap tokens through the MetaMask mobile app and browser extension.

 

In total, roughly 27,000 Axel and Vox avatars were distributed. The characters are already trading on ApeChain for about 2.9 $Ape and 35 $Ape respectively, according to OpenSea data.

While some users were happier than others with their MetaMask rewards, the opportunity could be significant for Otherside. The drop acts an onboarding event, giving thousands of non-BAYC and ApeChain users a playable character inside the metaverse.

If even a small fraction of MetaMask’s user base decides to check out Otherside, and stick around, the impact could be meaningful. Based on recent Voyager metrics shared by Garga, even a modest conversion rate could noticeably increase Otherside’s daily active users.
