ON THE BALLOT: This AIP Wants To Create A Platform Where NFT Holders Can Find Licensing Opportunities For Their IP

There is an Ape Improvement Proposal on the ballot this week that aims to create a platform where NFT holders from across the Yugaverse and beyond can connect with Made By Apes Builders and brands to showcase and license their IP on everything from chess sets to stadiums.

AIP-417, titled ‘IP Ecosystem with CLIP Powered by ApeCoin,’ is an ecosystem fund allocation proposal written by Jason Au, founder of Elite Apes, along with core team members Steve Pon, Mark Caplan, Mister Hype, and BAYC 7052.

“The proposal aims to support the Community-Led IP ecosystem (CLIP), powered by ApeCoin, dedicated to empowering web3 creators, brands, and enthusiasts in the digital ownership landscape,” Au wrote “CLIPStarter, our flagship platform, will serve as the innovation, fostering collaboration, and driving the commercialization of NFT IP assets. Through crowdfunding for community projects, virtual exhibitions, collectibles, loyalty programs, and strategic partnerships, CLIP will pave the way for NFT IP to transcend mere collectibles and become powerful engines of commerce.”

If passed, CLIP will run on ApeChain and identify opportunities for the DAO, its members, and ApeChain, promote ApeCoin, create high-end collectibles for DAO members, connect with and promote Made By Apes builders, and encourage the platform's eventual users to migrate their $Ape to ApeChain, among other things.

“CLIP will provide a platform for any builders to showcase and promote their IP and projects, fostering collaboration and driving innovation within the ApeCoin DAO ecosystem,” Au wrote. “By empowering creators and brands to leverage the power of NFTs, CLIP will attract new users and drive adoption of ApeCoin as a valuable digital asset. Additionally, by facilitating partnerships and collaborations, CLIP will enhance the visibility and credibility of ApeCoin DAO, positioning it as a hub for digital creativity and innovation.”

In total, Au and his team are seeking 2,750,000 $Ape or $3,465,000 USD to create and promote CLIP, with $1.1 million $Ape allocated to brand acquisition, 400,000 $Ape to marketing and PR, 350,000 $Ape to events and conferences, 250,000 $Ape to platform development, 400,000 $Ape towards a CLIP ecosystem grant program, and 250,000 $Ape to legal and compliance fees.

If passed, the DAO will receive 50% of the net revenue that CLIP makes, new branding opportunities, ‘revenue contributions’ from projects that are supported by CLIP’s ecosystem grant program, along with limited edition collectibles for BAYC and Moca holders, accoridng to the proposal.

The window to vote on AIP-417 is currently open and ApeCoin DAO Contributors have until Wednesday, May 15th, to cast their coins and vote on this proposal.

The Bored Ape Gazette is working to find out more about AIP-417 and will bring you an interview with Au later this week. Stay tuned for updates!
