Q&A: This AIP Aims To Set Up An Ape Improvement Proposal Mentorship Program That Helps $Apes Build!

Building is easier with friends, and this Ape Improvement Proposal is working to create an ApeCoin DAO mentorship program where successful AIP authors help builders with their ideas and navigate the DAO’s proposal process!

AIP-354 titled ‘ApeCoin DAO AIP Ambassador & Mentorship Program,’ is a brand decision proposal written by ApeCoin DAO Contributor and Governance Working Group Steward AllCityBAYC.

“The purpose of this proposal is to outline the framework for a voluntary, no-cost three-month pilot program aimed at pairing successful AIP authors with first-time (AIP) applicants to foster increased participation and enhance the overall quality of proposals submitted for voting,” AllCity wrote.

By connecting first-time AIP writers with successful AIP authors, AllCity hopes that the ApeCoin DAO will get more well-thought-out ideas going up for a vote, encourage community, and establish the $Ape ecosystem as the place to build!

“Developing ApeCoin DAO as a visible hub known for assisting community members foster innovative ideas will encourage creativity within the community, increase brand recognition and contribute to an overall strengthened reputation,” he wrote.

AIP-354 will not cost the DAO anything if passed, and would serve as a possible proof of concept for the creation of a permanent mentorship community program.

To find out more about AIP-354 and how a mentorship program would benefit the DAO, the Bored Ape Gazette reached out to AllCityBAYC for an interview. Check it out below:

1. Can you sum up your AIP in a sentence or two?

"We want to pair successful AIP authors with first time applicants."

2. What inspired you to write this proposal?

“I’ve been fortunate to have written quite a few proposals over the years, and a good amount at ApeCoinDAO, but not everyone with a great idea has the same experience. Same goes for the campaign process, where knowing how/when to reach out to people means everything."

3. While this is just a test and has no cost, what would you expect a fulltime/ established mentorship program to cost the DAO?

“We’ve had a ton of interest from AIP authors looking to participate, and hope to see that trend continue. But the program is about helping people, so if we look for funding down the road, I plan to allocate as little toward salaries that I can. For me I don’t want anything, and will focus on budgeting for service providers who can help elevate proposals, like graphic designers and legal reviews.”

4. What does success look like for this AIP?

“That’s a great question. I think that it will come in many forms with an initiative like this, but overall I’d love to have our mentees walking away with more confidence and new or improved skillsets.”

5. Where do you see this mentorship program a year from now?

“Fully functioning and part of a much broader support system for AIP authors that would include guidance once they receive funding as well. I’d also love to see an exclusive format with specific criteria that provides access to marketing, accounting, and legal services.”

6. Do you have anything else you’d like to add or say?

“If you’re interested in participating feel free to reach out; whether you’d like to become a mentor or a mentee.”

The window to vote on AIP-354 is currently open and ApeCoin DAO Contributors have Wednesday, November 29th, at 9 P.M. EST to cast their coins.

The Bored Ape Gazette will let you know how the community votes on AIP-354 tomorrow night. Stay tuned for updates!
