SEND IN THE CLOWNS: Beeple Purchased A Very Funny Punk Last Night!

NFT artist and satirist, Beeple, had the NFT community laughing as he put on a red nose and face paint and purchased a clown of a CryptoPunk last night!

After a weeklong dive into the world of CryptoPunks and learning more about the collection’s traits and rarities, Beeple put a smile on everyone’s face after he bought CryptoPunk #4593 for 113.69 Eth or $213,000 USD.

CryptoPunk #4593 is a three-attribute albino male with green clown eyes, a clown nose, and a thin mohawk. Based on these traits CryptoPunk #4593 is the 2985th most punk CryptoPunk, according to Rarity Tools.

Following his purchase, Beeple took to Twitter and thanked everyone for their support he looked for his forever Punk.

“Appreciate all the kind words on this new lal' dude," Beeple tweeted. “Thankful to have the opportunity to be a small part of this amazing community. This is the first PFP I have ever bought and it is a really long time coming. from the time i learned of NFTs this project has always stood out to me as being an insane story. The fact that this ridiculously innovative artwork was GIVEN AWAY years ago and at the time almost nobody cared, but that this idea then eventually spawned an entire ASSET CLASS, to me is just beyond comprehension. I have watched in awe as this project changed the way we think about identity and ownership. I believe this is a historic work from both a technological and artistic perspective and its influence on NFTs and this space is already undeniable. And thank you also to everyone who helped in my search for the right punk. I wanted to get something with very recognizable features that to me embodied the spirit of punks and that I could build a story around through the everydays. Beeple quickly got to incorporating CryptoPunk #4593 into his everday collection with his “A PUNK IS BORN,’ piece last night.
