On Thursday, Web3 liquidity marketplace Gondi announced that legendary NFT collector, DJ, and Wolf Game owner SeedPhrase had sold his one of a kind CryptoPunk to an anonymous buyer in an over the counter deal.

“Historic Sale on GONDI: CryptoPunk #8348, the one and only 7-trait Punk, sold for 3,000,000 USDC + undisclosed amount,” the platfrom tweeted. “The largest sale in GONDI history. Previously in a 2,800,000 USDC loan, this legendary Punk sold via Sell & Repay, seamlessly settling the loan as part of the sale. The House of Grails. Where icons change hands and history is made. Congratulations to  @seedphrase on the sale and to the new owner on acquiring a true icon.”

 

Tonight, we do not know much about the mystery buyer of SeedPhrase’s former CryptoPunk, but we do know that they brought $5.9 million USD onchain through Coinbase Prime this morning ahead of the purchase, leading some to believe that there’s more to this acquisition than meets the eye.

As we wait to learn more about CryptoPunk #8348’s new owner, SeedPhrase is celebrating the massive sale on the timeline after more than six years of holding the one of a kind Punk.

 

“Which floors am I sweeping!?? Jks, I received an offer after 6+ years that I couldn’t refuse,” he tweeted. “More on this tomorrow. Time to celebrate.”

SeedPhrase purchased CryptoPunk #8348 for 85 ETH, or $18,143 USD, on May 20, 2020, which is wild to think about.

Back then, COVID was raging across the world, NBA TopShot had not yet taken off, and the Bored Ape Yacht Club mint was still nearly a year away.

Talk about conviction.
