Last month, Yuga Labs’ Michael Figge officially stepped into the role of CEO, and things have been anything but boring ever since!

On Sunday, Figge celebrated his one month anniversary as top Ape, congratulating the team on a job well done while teasing an insane summer of shifts around the swamp.

“It’s been a month since announcing my transition to ceo at yuga the team has done great work over the last 30 days,” he tweeted. “And the next few weeks will be an important part of the shift bored ape yacht club.”

As the Gazette previously reported, Figge officially took over as CEO on April 16th, replacing Yuga Labs Co-Founder Garga.

Since then, the “Figge effect” has been felt both IRL and online.

On the digital front, Figge launched GrailsOTC, Yuga Labs’ over the counter trading desk for Apes, which has reignited collecting and put a renewed emphasis on rarity and aesthetics. He also oversaw the Daniel Arsham Voyager drop on Otherside and opened BAYC’s new P2P marketplace, where community members can buy and sell their best, and boredest, art, merch, collectibles, and more!

At the same time IRL, Figge took on CoinDesk, calling the publication out for what he viewed as unfair coverage of the NFT space. He also oversaw BAYC’s first merch drop centered around elevated yacht club aesthetics instead of traditional streetwear, while continuing to bring community members together around the globe through local meetups and events, bringing a bunch of frens out to Ibiza for a music festival.

After today’s post, all eyes and tweets were on Figge as community members old and new reposted his message and showed support by replying with a simple phrase: “Bored Ape Yacht Club.”

While these headline making moves are massive for the club, some community members say it’s the smaller things that stand out too, like being accessible and responsive.

According to BAYC member Bavi, Figge has been exactly that.

“I reached out to @mfigge for a few things like a website bug / apechain bridge issue, and each time he took the time to look into the issue and resolve it in a swift manner,” he tweeted. “You guys have no idea how much value he's bringing to the table Extremely BULLISH for  @BoredApeYC.”

The Gazette will continue following this summer’s teased “shift” and will let you know what Figge does next to make BAYC the best club on the internet. Stay tuned for updates!
