SuperPlastic Announced Its' BAYC Collab Will Drop This Week And Teased Images Of The Figurines
SuperPlastic announced that its’ highly anticipated Bored Ape Yacht Club collaboration will drop this week and teased images of the vinyl figurines.
“F&CK IT,” SuperPlastic tweeted along with two dark figurines. “APE VINYL THIS WEEK.”
While the vinyl figurines in the photos are dark, the first figurine appears to be Curtis, the mascot for the BAYC, and the second ape figurine appears to be SuperPlastics’ bored ape, Bored Ape #6894.
“Superplastic is producing the first official Bored Ape Yacht Club vinyl figurines,” SuperPlastic wrote on its website’s roadmap. “This will include multiple colorways & special editions for our communities. More details coming soon!”
Following the announcement, the Bored Ape Gazette reached out to SuperPlastic via Twitter and asked whether or not the company would be accepting $Ape as a payment option. SuperPlastic did not immediately respond.
As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, The BAYC announced a collaboration with Superplastic earlier this year.
“Stoked to announce that we have a toy in the works with the wizards over at @superplastic,” The BAYC tweeted on January 13th, along with a photo announcing the partnership.
Shortly after the collaboration was announced, Superplastic tweeted a photo of Bored Ape #6894 and announced that the primate would be the “Official ape for the Boredapeyc XSUPERPLASTIC Vinyl figure.”
Bored Ape #6984 is a seven trait black fur ape with a seaman’s hat and a Vietnam era jacket. Superplastic purchased Bored Ape #6984 for 75.8 Eth, according to Opensea data.
Superplastic, is a character-based product and entertainment company that creates limited edition art toys, apparel, games, and animation founded in 2017 by Paul Budnitz, according to Crunchbase.
Superplastic’s collaboration with the Bored Ape Yacht Club is part of the company’s “SUPERPLASTIC NFT Roadmap,” according to its’ website.
“Join the ever-evolving adventures of part-time art thieves and full-time f%ck ups Janky & Guggimon as they attempt to get rich and famous while avoiding a lifetime in Rikers,” Superplastic wrote on its website. “Along the way they’ll drop rare NFTs, limited-edition toys, rad giveaways, and insane metaverse & IRL awesomeness.
Some of the “insane metaverse& IRL awesomness” in the roadmap includes collaborations with Paris Hilton, Gucci and the BAYC.
