The Sotheby's BAYC Auction Ends Tomorrow. Find Out More About The DAO That Owns The NFTS Up For Sale

The Sotheby’s Bored Ape Yacht Club and Bored Ape Kennel Club auctions are ending tomorrow and BAYC members are excited to see where the 101 piece lots end up.

While all apes are excited for the auction, the DAO members’, who’s apes and dogs are up for auction, are even more excited to see the outcome of the Sotheby’s auction.

This is the first time that bored apes have been featured at Sotheby’s and they’re already exceeding expectations.

As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, The auction house estimated that the BAYC and BAKC lots will sell for an estimated $12-$18 million and $1.5-$2 million respectively. But over the weekend, the bored ape lot received a bid of $19,000,000 USD and the BAKC lot’s current bid price is $1,500,000 with a day left.

The Bored Ape Gazette spoke with Dao member, CryptoBlockDan, and found out more about the Sotheby’s auction, how he got into crypto and where he sees the BAYC heading in the future. CryptoBlockDan was brought into the Dao early on to help with marketing and community engagement and has been a member of the BAYC since the beginning of the club. Check out our full interview below:

1.What made you originally interested in the BAYC?

All of the members of the DAO heard about it initially on the launch, we all liked the art and bought in (some heavier than others lol).

2. How long have you been in crypto?

Personally, bought BTC in 2013, it lost 90% value in 2014, forgot about it, came back in 2017.

3. How did you acquire the 101 apes?

They were all bought on the opening sale by different members of the DAO.

4. How did the Sotheby’s auction come about? How did you get your ape collection in front of them?

Sotheby's approached us through a mutual contact. We had the 101 Apes and Dogs, fractionalized at the time in the Unicly uAPE collection.

5. What’s the experience of selling your apes at Sotheby’s been like?

Sotheby's have been incredibly professional, the work they have put into this is amazing. The hype video and launch video alone are works of art.

6. What do you expect the collection to sell for?

We have internal valuations/expectations, but are happy to just allow the bidders to bid as they please, whatever the final hammer price is the price that they were willing to pay.

7. What do you plan to do after the auction? Do you have personal apes?

Yes, all members of the DAO have personal Apes, and many other NFTs in various projects.

8. Where do you see the BAYC going forward?

We expect that Yuga Labs will bring some excitement with the Roadmap V2 soon, which we're looking forward too. IRL meet ups for Ape Holders, collabs with other projects would be amazing
