"THREE YEARS OF BEING INSANE": The Bored Ape Yacht Club Celebrated The Three Year Anniversary Of The MAYC Mint!

On this day three years ago, the Bored Ape Yacht Club expanded its membership to include 20,000 of the most insane primates on the blockchain with the launch of the Mutant Ape Yacht Club!

Things were anything but boring on Wednesday as the BAYC celebrated not only PP Man’s birthday but also the Mutant Ape Yacht Club’s anniversary!

“Three years of being insane,” the BAYC tweeted along with a 3D modeled photo of Mutant Curtis AKA Murtis outside the club.

It’s hard to believe, but on August 28, 2021, BAYC members were glued to their screens, waiting to receive either an M1, M2, or M3 Bored Ape Chemistry Club Mutant Serum, followed by an insane Dutch auction mint for another 10,000 insane Apes!

As the Gazette reported at the time,  BAYC members received the serums in waves, with anticipation growing all day about what was next until the BAYC officially introduced the Mutant Ape Yacht Club!

“Strange noises can be heard from the basement of the club,” The BAYC tweeted. “The clinking of glass and the turning of gears . . . The Mutant Ape Yacht Club is now live.”

 

Apes and non-apes alike quickly made their way to the MAYC website to figure out what was to come.

Once inside, apes found out more about the MAYC and how the collection aimed to bring more NFT enjoyers into the club!

“The MAYC is a way to reward our ape holders with an entirely new NFT—a “mutant” version of their ape—while also allowing newcomers into the BAYC ecosystem at a lower tier of membership,” the BAYC explained at the time. “Mutants represent the final tier of membership; everything going forward occurs with the intention of accruing utility and member’s-only benefits to Bored Apes foremost, but also Mutants, and to a lesser extent, Bored Apes with BAKC companions.”

 

The idea of getting more apes involved in the community had always been on the roadmap since the club’s inception.

“The Mutant Ape (NFT Breeding) Arcade Machine gets fixed,” the BAYC original roadmap states. “And we cook up new ways to ape with our friends.”
