Forget Space Invaders! It’s attack of the voxels in this new Meebits game that just won the collection’s first ever vibecoding competition!

Pew! Pew! On Monday, Meebits announced that Warrbo was the winner of this weekend’s inaugural vibe coding competition for his game, Meebits Invasion, taking home the title and a 1,000 $Ape grand prize.

Warrbo’s game is fun and simple, playing like the classic Space Invaders. But instead of players taking aim at pixelated UFOs, however, they’re mowing down Meebs.

“Goal is to shoot the most consecutive hits, or ignore accuracy and play for points,” Warrbo wrote. “Special theme every 3 waves. Random events occasionally. Endless invasion of Meebits.”

To check out the game or play it yourself, visit Warrbo’s website here: https://warrbo.itch.io/meebit-invasion

After Warrbo’s win, Meebits CEO Sergito took to the timeline to congratulate him and announce another competition, with even more ApeCoin prizes up for grabs for vibe coding devs.

“Congratulations to Warrbo for winning our weekend vibe coding competition utilizing Meebits sprites and taking home the 1k APE prize,” he said. “There were some amazing submissions and it got me inspired. Tonight we’re announcing a larger contest with 5x the prize pool. We’ll also publish some scoring guidelines for participants. Thanks to everyone who vibe coded with Meebits this weekend!”

Earlier tonight, the voxel project announced its new Meebits Vibe Coding Challenge, inviting community developers to vibe code with the voxels, have fun, and possibly earn some $Ape.

Anyone and everyone can submit their ideas in the replies to the tweet above between now and January 25 at 8:00 P.M. EST.

The Gazette will continue to follow the Meebits and their new vibe coding competitions and will let you know what the community creates next. Stay tuned for updates!
