WELCOME ABORED: Former RTFKT Visual Design Director Jarlan Perez Joins Yuga Labs’ Otherside Team!

A familiar face from the RTFKT ecosystem, known for his work in augmented and virtual reality, is making his way to the swamp after joining Yuga Labs!

On Tuesday, Yuga Labs Chief Product Officer Michael Figge announced that former RTFKT Visual Design Director Jarlan Perez will be joining the Otherside team.

 

After the announcement, the Bored Ape Gazette reached out to Perez to congratulate him and ask about his new role, but he did not immediately reply.

While we do not yet know exactly what he will be working on in Otherside, Figge previously said that Perez “had great takes on avatar systems,” and RTFKT Founder Benito Pagotto recommended that Yuga Labs bring Perez onto the team earlier this month.

 

Following the news, many from the RTFKT community and Ape ecosystem congratulated Perez on joining the Otherside team.

 

“Congrats to @JarlanPerez , the legendary world builder that lead many of the incredible  @RTFKTactivations,” RTFKT News tweeted.  “@OthersideMeta just became a lot stronger. “It’s a bitter sweet departure for the  @RTFKT community to watch this level of talent join another team. Though with any luck this could possibly lead to Clone X integration into @OthersideMeta which is, imo, the NFT ecosystems best chance for a unified, interoperable, persistent verse capable of pushing us passed the oppressive nature of digital feudalism we see in trad gaming.”

 

While nothing about bringing RTFKT assets into Otherside has been officially announced, ApeCoin CEO Cameron Kates tweeted after the news that Otherside is for everyone.

“Slowly, then all at once,” he said. “ @OthersideMeta is the home for all communities.”
