YEAR OF THE SHADOW: Yuga Labs VP 0xQuit Teases NFT Mirroring Tech And Hints At New Staking Opportunities In 2025

2025 will be the year of the Shadow! On New Year’s Eve, Yuga Labs’ Vice President of Blockchain, 0xQuit, took to the timeline to update Apes on the company’s cross-chain mirroring technology and teased NFT staking in the new year.

Apes and $Apes received an end-of-year update today from 0xQuit about Yuga Labs’ Shadow technology, that will soon make it possible for Bored Apes on Ethereum to be recognized on ApeChain. This will give creators and developers new ways to reward holders and open up exciting cross-chain opportunities for members!

“Quick end of year Shadow update: We made some last minute additions that should greatly improve UX and DevX, which also means we kicked off a new set of audits,” he wrote. “We're ready to deploy as soon as this audit cycle is complete. I was hoping they'd be out by the new year, but this also gives us time to line up more immediate use cases and make sure NFT Staking is ready to launch along with the initial shadow deployment.”

 

The idea of Ape shadows stretching from Ethereum cold wallets to ApeChain was first teased in November when Layer Zero introduced its IzRead technology. This concept was reiterated by 0xQuit earlier in December when he announced Shadow delegation, powered by Delegate XYZ.
