Sotheby's Will Be Auctioning A Gold Fur Bored Ape, Its Matching Mutants, And A Gold Doggo Later This Month!

Sotheby’s something is brewing in the Yugaverse as the art auction house  gets ready to list a gold fur Bored Ape, its matching mutants, and a gold doggo later this month.

On Tuesday, Sotheby’s VP and Head of Digital Art& Contemporary Art Specialist Michael Bouhanna announced that Sotheby’s will be auctioning a gold fur Bored, its matching M1 and M2 gold fur Mutant Apes, and a gold fur Bored Ape Kennel Club Dog on June 18th as individual lots.

“This 2021 relic will come up at auction in a few days,” he tweeted along with a photo of the gold fur Bored Ape, Bored Ape #8552. “Let’s see where this is going today.”

Bored Ape #8552 is a seven-trait solid gold fur ape with a biker vest, sushi chef headband, and a bored pipe mouth. Based on these traits, Bored Ape #8552 is the 26th most bored Bored Ape, according to RaritySniper.

Along with being rare, Bored Ape #8552, along with its Mutants and doggo, have a storied history. Sotheby’s acquired the set from Three Arrows Capital back in 2022 after the hedge fund was ordered to liquate.

At the time of this article’s publication, Sotheby’s has not listed Bored Ape #8552, its matching Mutants, and the gold dur doggo on its website.

 

While we do not know what Bored Ape #8552 will sell for, we do know that the last three Gold Fur Bored Apes sales were FrankinIsBored’s service Ape for 275 ETH or $667,000 USD in February 2024, AJ Jaffy’s crying gold fur sold for 246.94 ETH or $934,149 USD in March 2024, and 0xWave’s leather punk jacket-wearing gold fur primate sold to MachiBigBrother’s ApeCoin DAO-funded Digital Art Movement initiative in March 2024.
